Inspired by “Autumnal Path” a painting by Kirsty Asher - by Sheila Ash

The fire that burns within
dances its chromatics (*)
amidst life’s autumnal diatonics.

Echoes of Scandinavian grey
birch the trunks
of English beech wood.

The sticky plasters of analysis
tape past doubts to future hopes
to present a resurrection.

(* ) Chromatics   has two meanings
