  1. Good Lord Sheila...
I mean I get the drift, but cannot find a functioning online Oriya English dictionary.

  2. Ken, I haven't found one either :)

This is one of those exercises that my French language teacher used to make me do - "Write down what you did today" so I made myself do it for Oriya. Now if only I could speak quicker and hear easier I might make better communication progress, so New year's resolutions and all that humbug!
I'd hoped with the pictures folks could get the drift by here it is in English.
Just a bit of fun really!

Today is a holiday. I am at home. Today I will write my blog in Oriya. Why? because I am trying to learn some Oriya.

Today I slept late. It was 9 AM when I got up.
I bathe with hot water. But first I must boil the water. A lot of work. 3 pan fulls. That's enough. Hot water - beautiful!

I am bathing when R (my landlady's daughter) rings the doorbell. She tells me she will go on her cycle to the shop. Ah ha, I think, she wants chocolate. I have my shopping list - milk, ginger, garlic, fruit juice, vinegar. I have written it already. I add two bars of chocolate to the list - one for me, one for her.

I hear the vegetable seller. She and Sushila my landlady are sitting down outside the house. White radish and cauliflower are the vegetables. Yesterday, today, tomorrow cauliflower and white radish. Every day cauliflower and white radish. How many ways to cook cauliflower?
(I am sure that bit is not correct but it is the best I can do for the sentiment of how much cauliflower can a girl eat?!) All of January. It is cauliflower season. Stop soon!
Now, tea and a good book until dinner time.

Perhaps I'll try in Hindi next time! :) I am determined to crack this!
